ABOUT THE HACKNEY PASSION
We introduce you to “The Passion”, a week long dinner series, running from May 27 - 31, hosted by The Hackney restaurant in Washington NC, highlighting North Carolina’s amazing, diverse and plentiful seafood showcased by North Carolina’s elite Chefs.
Why “The Passion”? Because we are especially passionate about the seafood our fishermen and fisherwomen provide us as well as the produce from our farmers and the beef from our ranchers. They are our Food Heroes. We are truly blessed with the bounty that the NC coast provides it is some of the best in the country!
This is the first of what we plan to be an annual event at The Hackney. Hosted by Executive Chef Jamie Davis, Jamie will lead the event working with his fellow Chef NC Catch Ambassadors to create a unique, intimate and unforgettable dining experience!
Two or Three NC Catch Ambassador Chefs will team up each night to take over The Hackney kitchen to produce extraordinary 5 course dinners. All the dishes will celebrate NC Seafood and NC produce from our NC Supplier Food Heroes. Where possible those heroes will also be at the event to present and educate about the featured seafood. The event will provide opportunities to meet and interact with both the chefs and suppliers.
The dinner also includes a pre dinner cocktail and canapes and each course will be paired with delicious wines that have been carefully selected to compliment the dish.

A percentage of the proceeds from each night will be donated to our charity partner NC Catch. NC Catch, works in partnership with the state's local Catch groups, to strengthen the North Carolina seafood economy through promotion and education (click for more details).

The Hackney is the home of 2024 James Beard finalist best chef southeast, chef Jamie Davis. Located in a beautifully restored former bank building it provides a stunning backdrop for this unique culinary celebration.

The Hackney Restaurant
The Hackney Restaurant opened in January 2019. The restaurant is set in the restored 1922 bank building on the corner of West Main and Respess Street in the historic town of Washington, North Carolina. The bank hall has been lovingly restored by the owners Susanne Hackney (a Washingtonian) and Nick Sanders (an Englishman) both with international careers returning to Susanne's home town in 2017. Interior design was led by vanCollier, an amazing local designer and one of Susanne's best childhood friends. The restaurant was designed with a modern elegant nod to its 1920's art deco origin. All the furniture was made in High Point, North Carolina! The velvet banquette is set to be just high enough for privacy and just low enough for socializing! Susanne greets you at the door as Southern hospitality is a top priority here!
