Mission

NC Catch has been supporting North Carolina Seafood since its inception in 2011.   Our mission is to promote North Carolina Seafood and support the fishing families who provide the catch.  We work to promote commercial fishing as a sustainable profession, while protecting consumer's access to fresh, local seafood.

Our platform is to educate consumers on the importance of buying REAL LOCAL SEAFOOD, and how that contributes to a robust seafood economy.  We provide information where to buy sustainably harvested NC Seafood, and how to handle and prepare it, by providing both traditional coastal recipes from fishing families, as well as from our culinary expert Chef Ambassadors.  We utilize a variety of communication methods including social media channels, printed materials, events, and festivals around the state. We also share news about policy and harvest regulations to keep consumers abreast of the issues facing NC fishers and the availability of their favorite seafood items.

NC Catch celebrates the cultural heritage of commercial fishing in our state through personal stories and experiences.  Through important projects such as "African American Contributions in NC Seafood", which will be featured at The Hackney during the dinner series. We provide the opportunity for the public to meet and talk with seafood purveyors, including fishermen, seafood marketers, and restaurateurs -- and to taste the culinary creations of our Chef Ambassadors.

Our bi-annual NC Catch Summit brings together industry experts-fisheries scientists, managers, seafood industry folks.  Our goal is always to inform and demystify seafood and expand the North Carolina seafood community to include a diversity of partners.

We believe the traditions, and our bounty of REAL LOCAL NC seafood is worth saving!  Our goal in 2025 and beyond is to do more education and outreach, which is where events like this, and donors like you are so important.  We appreciate your support in attending this special event and hope you will continue to support NC Catch's mission.
